40th International Summer Camp for Disabled Young People

20/08/2025

The Order of Malta’s 40th International Summer Camp brought together approximately 500 young people with disabilities from around the world. This year’s camp took place in the Netherlands, from August 10th to 17th, 2025. The participants were hosted at Castle De Berckt in Baarlo, the Netherlands. The week-long event provided an opportunity for recreational and spiritual activities, fostering friendships between guests and volunteers. In his inspiring opening address at Malta Camp 2025, Grand Master Fra’ John reminded participants that the Camp is a rare and precious opportunity to experience the profound grace of sharing life and love with one another.

Volunteers from the Scandinavian association enabled participants with disabilities to enjoy a week full of activities, entertainment, and prayer, helping to build the unique friendship of the annual international gathering.

The Order of Malta’s International Summer Camp has been held annually since 1984, welcoming young adults between the ages of 18 and 35. Each year, a different European association hosts the gathering. The Scandinavian Association organized the Malta Camp 2004 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Next year, Malta Camp 2026 will take place at Castillo de Javier in Xavier, in the Navarra region of Spain, famous for being the birthplace of St. Francis Xavier.
